There's no single "best" website layout. The right site depends on what your customers are trying to do when they land on it. A beautiful homepage that hides the one thing people came for will lose them in seconds.
Below, we go industry by industry. Skip to yours, but read the last section too, because it applies to everyone.
Restaurants and cafes
People visiting a restaurant website usually want three things fast: the menu, the location and whether you're open.
- A menu that's actually readable on a phone. Put it on the page as text, not as a PDF or a photo of the printed menu. Text loads faster, works on every phone and can be found by Google when someone searches for a dish.
- Prices, or at least a price range. People want to know before they come.
- Online ordering links to Swiggy and Zomato, or your own ordering system if you have one.
- Table reservations through a booking tool or a simple WhatsApp button.
- Great photos of the food and the space. Real ones, well lit.
- Opening hours, a map and parking information where people can find them without scrolling.
Clinics and doctors
Patients are often anxious and in a hurry. Your site should make booking easy and build confidence.
- Doctor profiles with qualifications, registration details, experience and a friendly photo.
- Clear service pages explaining each treatment in plain language.
- Online appointment booking, or at least a prominent call and WhatsApp button.
- Consultation timings for each doctor, kept up to date.
- Directions and landmarks, since clinics are often inside buildings that are hard to find.
- Privacy: if forms collect health information, handle it carefully and explain how it's used.
Be careful with claims. Avoid promising outcomes, and keep the National Medical Commission's rules on how doctors may promote their practice in mind. Stick to factual information about services, qualifications and timings.
Real estate agents and developers
Property buyers research a lot before they call. Give them enough to shortlist you, then make it easy to enquire.
- A page for each project or listing with photos, floor plans, carpet area, amenities, location advantages and price or price range.
- RERA details. In Maharashtra, MahaRERA requires the project's registration number, along with its QR code, to be shown wherever a registered project is advertised. That includes your website.
- Location maps showing nearby stations, schools and hospitals.
- Walkthrough videos or virtual tours for buyers who can't visit straight away.
- Quick enquiry forms and WhatsApp on every project page, not just the contact page.
- Brochure downloads in exchange for a name and phone number, a simple way to capture leads.
Gyms and fitness studios
People choosing a gym want to know what it's like inside, when classes run and roughly what it costs.
- A class schedule that's easy to read on a phone and always up to date.
- Trainer profiles with certifications and specialities.
- Membership options, with prices if you're comfortable sharing them, or a clear way to ask.
- A free trial booking button. It's often the single most effective call to action a gym can have.
- Photos and short videos of the space, equipment and classes in action.
- Member transformations and reviews, always shared with the member's permission.
Coaching classes
Coaching websites usually have two audiences: students and the parents who pay the fees. Write for both.
- A page for each course with syllabus coverage, duration, batch sizes and the teaching approach.
- Batch timings and branch locations.
- Faculty profiles with qualifications and teaching experience.
- A demo class booking form, which is a low-commitment first step for families.
- Results and testimonials, shared with permission and presented honestly.
- Fee information or a clear enquiry route, plus a WhatsApp button, since that's how most parents prefer to ask questions.
Keep it honest. Government guidelines for coaching centres issued in 2024 specifically warn against misleading promises, such as guaranteed ranks or marks. Share real results and let them speak for themselves.
What every local business needs
Whatever you do, these basics make the difference between a site that brings in enquiries and one that just sits there:
- Your phone number and WhatsApp button visible on every page, especially on mobile.
- Your address and a map, matching your Google Business Profile exactly.
- Fast loading on phones. Most of your visitors will be on mobile data. See why websites are slow.
- Real photos of your premises, team and work.
- Reviews from real customers.
- A clear next step on every page: call, book, order or enquire.
- Basic SEO, so people searching nearby can find you. Our local SEO guide covers the essentials.
